Men & Mental Health

13 men each day take their life by suicide in the UK. This is a serious matter which affects so many people around the world. Traditionally it has been more difficult for men to reach out for support and to talk about what's happening for them. Particularly around their mental health needs.

It's important that we continue to break the stigma and allow safer spaces and opportunities for men to address their mental and emotional health and wellbeing. I suggest the following actions to start to take control back.

Talk to someone - don't suffer alone.

Be more active - to release the tension and stress.

Make an appointment with a professional and explore your situation and issues.

Dismiss the stigma around manning up.

There are several organisations and resources available for people who may be struggling with suicidal thoughts and feelings. Here are a few that may be helpful:

1. Samaritans (UK and Ireland): 116 123

2. National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (US): 1-800-273-TALK (8255)

3. Lifeline (Australia): 13 11 14

4. Movember Foundation (Global Men's Health Charity) https://movember.com

It's important to remember that help is available and that no one has to suffer alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out for support.
